After about 2 months of use, we are very happy with this blender because we can talk in the kitchen while it runs. It is so easy to clean with warm water and a drop of dishwashing liquid using the Smoothie function. It’s been used to make lots of smoothies and we were able to also replicate the avocado milkshake that we usually order when eating out at our favourite Vietnamese restaurant.

We own two The Quiet One vitamin machines and make many frozen coffee drinks and fruit smoothies. In addition, we purchased four pitchers. Now after 2 1/2 years we need to start replacing the pitchers. They have lasted well and we will continue to use Vitamix. We have a crack in one pitcher and all the ice blades need to be replaced. What to Look for in the Quietest Blender
Before you choose a quiet blender, it is important to look at the features and specifications each offers. The quietest blenders aren’t cheap, so it’s important to look at each one carefully before you buy one. Choose the right one for you. No one else can decide that but yourself.
Quietness
This is no-brainer and isn’t a surprise to be at the top of the list. The most important feature for a quiet blender is for it to be quiet. Noise is measured by the decibel system. Just to give you some examples – a garbage disposal is 80 decibels, a vacuum cleaner is 70 decibels, and a conversation is 60 decibels. Something that rates as 80 decibels is twice as loud as something that is at 70 decibels.
Motors are loud and noisy. Think of jets, cars, vacuums, lawn mowers, etc. They are all very loud because of the motor. Blender makers are able to reduce the noise levels and create quieter blenders by adding pad material around the motor housing. Rubber material is often used to make a blender more silent.
Quiet blenders almost always come with an additional cover or case to dampen noise levels. There are other tricks to make a blender quieter.
It is important to note that most companies don’t put the decibel noise level as a feature or specification. This can make it tricky to determine the quietness of a blender. Also, noise is subjective. Something loud to one person can be quiet to another.
Power
The power and size of a motor are directly related with noise levels. The more power, the bigger the motor needs to be, the less quiet a blender is. The motor size and power will determine what types of food you can blend and how loud it is. This feature separates the great blenders from the average.
To blend frozen food easily, we recommend at least 600 watts.
Blade Durability
Your blender is as good as its blade and power. A powerful blender means nothing if there isn’t a strong blade that is durable. Imagine this: a plastic blade with a 1,000 watt blender. The blade will shatter and render the blender useless. That is an extreme example, but you get my point.
A sharp blender blade made of durable material will make all the difference in the world and add to the quietness of a blender. The blender has less work to do with sharper, strong blades. Luckily, most blender blades are made of stainless steel. You’ll want to make sure to check the blade thickness and the use of superior stainless steel.
In addition, it’s important to get genuine blade replacement parts from the manufacturer or authorized reseller. Do not purchase an after-market blade. You will regret it.
Warranty
Even the best blade and quietest blender may run into issues. Possibly a defected blender from the factory or a part that breaks. A warranty will cover you and give you peace of mind. We recommend buying a blender with a warranty; especially when you are spending extra money on a quiet blender.
Why You Need the Quietest Blender
Imagine this scenario. It’s 5AM in the morning and you wake up. There is no going back to sleep and you are hungry. Since you haven’t eaten in hours, you want something to eat that is healthy.
You go to the kitchen to whip something up. A blender is the quickest and easiest way to make something healthy. But wait…it’s 5AM. Wife, kids, and dogs are asleep (may roommates if that is your scenario). How do you use a blender without waking everyone up? You will suffer the consequences the rest of the day.
This happened to me in real life. My wife put me in charge of the kids and dogs for the rest of the day while she slept. Gulp. This is why I wrote this article. For all those who are in this situation.
There is hope and help. You can get a quiet blender, specifically designed for quietness. So when you wake up in the early hours or late at night – blend to your heart’s content. No worrying about kids or dogs waking up.
How Loud Are Blenders?
The average blender is 70 decibels to 80 decibels loud. This is as loud as a vacuum cleaner or a garbage disposal. Long exposure to sounds 75 decibels or louder can cause permanent ear damage. Blenders are loud because of the power (noise) that comes from the motor. A lesser powered blender will be quieter than a more powerful one. Some blenders are specifically designed to be quieter with noise dampening work arounds.
Are There Silent Blenders?
There are several blenders that are designed to be more silent and quiet than normal ones. A few silent blenders are Vitamix One Blender, Hamilton Beach Professional Quiet Shield Blender, Blendtech Professional 800 Blender, Hamilton Beach Power Blender, and Vitamix Explorian Blender.
Final Thoughts
Your choice of blender should be well researched before you shell out a lot of hard earned money. The worlds quietest blenders are god-sends. We recommend the Blendtec Professional 800 blender. It offers the best overall value in terms of quietness, price, power, durability, and warranty. However, if you run a cafe or restaurant, you can’t go wrong with either the Blendtec or the Vitamix Quiet One. Both provide amazing power and quietness.
